A Love Story, Told Through Pizza
Leonardi’s started with a bag of flour, a long-distance relationship, and a shared bond over great pizza.
Our Story, So Far
The Beginning
A Bag of Flour and a Long-Distance Relationship
Back when Kris was serving as a firefighter in South Florida and Amanda, born and raised in Miami, was living in Brooklyn, their love for pizza created an instant connection after meeting at a music festival. Their long-distance relationship was spent touring New York’s most legendary pizzerias as often as possible, dreaming about one day having a place of their own.
The Journey
The Apartment Kitchen
Amanda believed in the dream so much, she bought Kris his first bag of flour—and the journey began in a tiny apartment kitchen in North Palm Beach. What started as homemade pies for friends quickly turned into swapping out the conventional home oven for a traditional commercial deck oven, revising recipes, testing every day, and a staggering number of people waiting online for the opportunity to pick up pies out of their apartment.
Two years and countless pies later, Leonardi’s first official location was born.
Today
The Pies
At Leonardi’s, Kris and Amanda serve 18-inch New York-style whole pies and slices while cutting zero corners on ingredients and product. Kris spent two years fine-tuning the dough program that is now used to produce Leonardi’s 48-hour cold-fermented dough, which is made in-house every day.
